Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced plans to establish a footwear manufacturing park in Panapakkam, Ranipet district. The project will span 250 acres with an investment of ₹400 crore and is expected to generate approximately 20,000 jobs, significantly boosting local employment opportunities.
This initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leather and footwear sectors. Following the release of the Tamil Nadu Footwear and Leather Products Policy in 2022, the state has seen substantial growth in these industries. The government also plans to establish industrial parks through public-private partnerships covering 50 acres to support the leather and footwear industries further.
The announcement was made during the virtual inauguration of a new footwear manufacturing facility by JR One Footwear Pvt Ltd in Eraiyur, Perambalur district. This facility, set up with an investment of ₹400 crore, is expected to create 20,000 jobs, particularly benefiting women in Perambalur and neighboring districts.
These developments are part of Tamil Nadu’s broader strategy to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2030, focusing on inclusive growth and industrial development across various districts.
