New Footwear Manufacturing Facility to Generate 20,000 Jobs in Ranipet

The Tamil Nadu government has announced plans to establish a Footwear Manufacturing Park in Panapakkam, Ranipet district, with an investment of ₹400 crore. This initiative is expected to create approximately 20,000 jobs, significantly boosting local employment opportunities.

This development aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the leather and footwear sectors, aiming to become a $1 trillion economy by 2030. The state has been actively implementing projects in these industries over the past two years, following the release of the Footwear and Leather Products Policy in 2022, which has led to notable growth in these sectors.

In addition to the Ranipet project, the government plans to establish industrial parks on 50-acre plots for the leather and footwear industries through public-private partnerships. These efforts are part of a comprehensive approach to attract investments and promote industrial development across various districts.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the Ranipet Footwear Manufacturing Park during the virtual inauguration of a ₹400 crore footwear manufacturing facility by JR One Footwear Pvt Ltd in Eraiyur, Perambalur district. This facility is also expected to generate 20,000 jobs, benefiting women in Perambalur and neighboring districts.

These initiatives underscore Tamil Nadu’s commitment to fostering industrial growth and employment generation, reinforcing its status as a leading hub for India’s leather and footwear industries.
